A Utah nonprofit in formation
When a disaster cuts a town off, we send the internet.
Forza keeps emergency communication kits packed and ready. When a storm, fire, flood or quake knocks out phone and internet service somewhere in the United States, we ship the kits to the people helping on the ground. They use them to call for help, run the relief work and reach families. When service comes back, they mail the kits home.
How it works
- A kit is packed and waiting. Each case holds a small satellite internet terminal, a battery, a folding solar panel, cables and a one-page setup card. It works with no power and no phone network.
- An organization asks for one. A shelter, a fire crew, a county emergency office or a relief group writes to us or calls. Two of our directors approve the request, often the same day.
- We ship or drive it out. The kit goes by overnight carrier, or a volunteer delivers it. Setup takes a few minutes: point the terminal at the sky and turn it on.
- It comes back by mail. A prepaid return label is in every case. We check the kit, charge it and stage it for the next time.
There is no charge. Not for the kit, the service, the shipping or the return.
Who can ask for a kit
Kits go to groups serving people hit by a disaster: emergency responders, shelters, local governments, relief organizations and community groups. We do not lend kits to single households. That keeps each kit where it helps the most people. It is also what our charitable purpose requires.
To ask for a kit, email info@forzaec.org. Tell us who you are, where the kit will be used, what happened, how many you need and where to send them. That is all we need to start.
Radio, as a second channel
Satellite internet is the first tool. Amateur radio is the second. Our directors hold or are earning FCC amateur licenses. We keep radio gear for the places where satellite service is not an option and responders need to talk to each other.
Who we are
Forza Emergency Communications is a volunteer organization based in Kaysville, Utah. Nobody is paid. The founding board is Christian Nielsen, Hans Nielsen, Jonathan Utley and Karl Kelley. We file as a Utah nonprofit corporation in January 2027 and apply to the IRS for 501(c)(3) status the same week. Our first ten kits are planned for 2027.
How to help
Right now the most useful help is a conversation. We want to hear from emergency managers who would use a kit, people who know disaster relief, and anyone who knows satellite terminals or amateur radio. We are not taking donations until the corporation exists and its bank account is open, in early 2027. If you would like to give then, tell us and we will let you know when it is possible.
